What is Overclock?
Any of you have heard this phrase 'overclock' before? Most of tech-heavy user here usually will hear this phrase a lot and might have done that before to their computer, but for someone who still doesn't know what is overclock, I will give you a brief description of overclock and the process itself. What is overclocking? overclock or overclocking is a process that force a part of the computer, in this case, the graphic processing unit to operate faster and work harder. The thing is each graphic processing unit have a default clock set to them by the manufacturer, this default clock is the safe clock for that unit, usually because of temperature reason. But there are many types of computer in this world and one of them might have a beast cooling performance and can make the increased temperature of the unit negligible. So now we go to the next phase, do you overclock or do you not?

Should I Overclock my Graphic Card?
This is quite a hard question to answer if I don't really know what is your graphic card, the computer that you have or a laptop if you use it. But there is some basic one to identify if you should overclock your graphic card or should you not. One of the basic questions is, do you experience throttling on your computer/laptop? To read more about throttling visit our post about Fixing Throttling on Laptop. So back to the topic, if you experienced something like that it means that your graphic unit gains temperature very fast in the default clock ( assuring that you haven't overclocked it ) and overclocking it will only make the throttling on your laptop/computer much worse and make it unusable so if you experience throttling please avoid overclocking it at any cost.
How to Overclock
This overclocking method is only applicable in Nvidia graphic card, AMD users please avoid using this step
First thing that you wanted to have before starting to overclock your computer/laptop is this program called Nvidia Inspector which is basically free and this benchmark tool MSI Kombustor So here is the step of how to overclock your Nvidia graphic card.
- Open Nvidia Inspector in here you will find all the specs of your Nvidia graphic card, now press the "Show Overclocking" button
- The window will get larger and in the right side you will notice a slider, this slider is the one that you need to change to increase the clock
- Make sure you choose the highest Performance Level[x] basically this means that you set the core clock when the graphic card in a high load mode.
- Try increasing the slider to an amount then press the "Apply Clocks & Voltage" button and then open MSI Kombuster and select Start Benchmark.
- Observe the result, if you are noticing an artifact ( some graphic bug ) or a decrease in overall frames per second it means that you really reach your limit and should decrease the clock a little bit.
- Repeat above step until you get the maximum frames per second in the benchmark
- You can also create a shortcut so you don't need to set the clock again every time you restart your computer
